Hellenikon Idyllion is situated directly on the beachfront in the typically Greek village of Selianitika - one of the quaintest villages on the north-west coast of the Pelloponnes.The large (4000 m²) grounds contain beautiful flower beds, lots of roses, lots of trees, lovely vine-covered pergolas, an orchard and a vegetable garden. Selianitika is one of the most beautiful villages between Patras and Korinth. On the one hand it has kept its originality in spite of tourismus, on the other hand it is situated central in the heart of Greece directly in a bay at the gulf of Korinth. Most tourists are Greeks (95%), so Selianitika has a specially Greek charm, even in the summer. Also remarkable is that there are many people with a special character in our village. For example the fisherman Emilio, who sells his fresh fishes every morning, or the baker who bakes still his bread in a traditional stoneoven. Additional there is a supermarket and a pharmacy in Selianitika. Live is still going on in the winter, all through the year the taverns offer fresh Greek meals and invite to dance with live-music at the weekends. When the weather is fine people meet on the village-square directly at the sea. Or they take a walk on the beach and enjoy the outstanding view to the island on the other side. Besides this you have the opportunity to spend a day on the beach (sand/gravel). For those who want to take a longer trip, we worked out many routes for hiking in the surrounding. You can even visit the ancient sites of Olympia, Delphi, Epidaurus, Mykene,... by bus and/or train. (Own bus- and trainstation) In summer you can amuse yourself in one of the two English spoken open-air cinemas. |
