Calhau Grande is situated in the western part of Madeira Island, Calheta in the village of Arco da Calheta. Its name was chosen due to the configuration of the surrounding mountains and due to its proximity to Vila da Calheta, a beautiful place by the sea.

100 meters from our self-catering cottages, there is a cafe / mini-market with fruit and vegetables produced by local people.
Calhau Grande has an excellent strategic position to discover Madeira - so close to the mountain as well as near to the sea.

Leaving the airport, follow the expressway in the direction of Funchal - Ribeira Brava - Ponta do Sol - Arco da Calheta. There is a roundabout, follow the direction Ledo. Turn left onto "Rocha de Gouveia" Street. 1 km ahead on your right, there is a sign stating "Calhau Grande", which points the way to the car park of the cottages.
