The walls of our guest house (which has been part of the family’s estate for approximately 200 years and has been recently renovated with natural materials) are made of natural stone which keep the interior nice and fresh even in midsummer time. The cottage has 4 rooms and a big kitchen which even meets the demands of hobby cooks.
The ground floor houses the living and dining room with dinner table, sofa, TV-connection and a high open fireplace which is not just for decoration, but which spreads a comfortable sizzling warmth on cold and rainy autumn and winter days. For especially cold days the house is equipped with electric radiators in every room.
The spacious kitchen (40qm²) is even suitable for advanced hobby cooks- including a fridge with a freezer compartment and a dish washer.
The living room has a TV-satellite connection.
Next to the kitchen there is the staircase, the toilet with the washing machine and the big bathroom with shower and bath tub.
The staircase leads to the first floor to the 4 bedrooms and the upper bathroom with shower and toilet. Two bedrooms are equipped with two single beds each and the other two rooms have big French double beds. An additional child’s bed is available. The Moulin d’en Bas easily sleeps up to 8 persons, pets are admitted on request.
In front of the house there is a terrace with garden furniture and barbecue with a magnificent view over the Pyrenees nearby.

You – or your kids- can enjoy yourselves freely in the park (11000m²) and take a bath afterwards in the river L’Hers nearby.
A small rowboat to explore the river is available in the guest house.
Plenty of free time activities are to be found close to the guest house.
The Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago Trail) passes right by our property.
The location is ideal for day trips to the Cathar castles, cave paintings, the medieval cities Carcasonne, Mirepoix, Toulouse, Lourdes with their markets, antique shops and other sights.
This spot is ideal for fishing, swimming, biking, parachuting, golf, canoeing, motor-biking, paragliding, riding, hiking and also duty-free shopping in Andorra.
The region Midi- Pyrénées offers cultural and gastronomic highlights, the world famous dish “Cassoulet” has its origins nearby in Castelnaudary.

The Moulin d’en Bas is located between Mirepoix and Pamiers in the valley of river L’Hers which emanates in the Pyrenees not far away from the Cathar castle Montségur.
The area is rich in cultural artifacts and the nature is stunningly beautiful.
The guest house is an ideal starting point for trips to the Mediterranean, to Andorra, Spain and the central Pyrenees.
Swimming, riding, bisons, bamboo park and paragliding, all within direct visinity of the house..
The small riding club „Domaine du Grand Bosc” is located nearby where you can book- on request and depending on your riding abilities- trips on horseback and in a carriage in the surrounding area.
Approximately 1 km away there is the bamboo park ” Parc aux Bambous ” open for visits.
The children surely want to visit the bison farm with petting zoo which is approximately 5 km away.
Paragliding is possible at the small airport Les Pujols which is 5 km away or on the Prat d’Albis, the local mountain of the region around Foix.
2km from the guest house, there is the starting point for the “well way” located in the small,
rustic village of Saint Amadou, the Way of St. James passes this village.

In immediate proximity there is the romantic medieval town Mirepoix with the carved wooden figures in its arcades. There is a rustic market on Mondays, which you should not miss. The 1000 year-old rock church in Vals is also worth a visit
You should also visit Foix, where you can see the medieval castle or the picturesquely situated village Saint Lizier with its monastery and the overwhelming view over the Pyrenees.
You could make a day trip to Toulouse, also called the “Pink City”, due to its buildings made of red brick; Toulouse is – together with Hamburg- the centre of the European aircraft construction with its final assembly lines of the A380, A330 and A350.
You could also visit the well-known pilgrimage site Lourdes and its surroundings where Bernadette Soubirous had 5 visions of St. Mary in 1858. Carcassonne or the Canal du Midi are also worth a visit. If you see the impressive medieval city walls and walk through the historic city inside these walls, you might think that time stopped at some point in the Middle Ages.
Other highlights are the Cathar castles of Montsegur where –according to the legend- the holy grail shall be hidden- Queribus and Peyrepertuse , cave paintings in Niaux, the subterranean river of Labouiche, the grotto of Mas d’Azil (a cave in which you can go by car), prehistoric park, Andorra, Saint Girons, etc. with original markets or enjoy the food of this region.
