Rees is located on the Lower Rhine, close to the dutch border. There are countless possibilities for outings e.g. to Moyland castle, the water wonderland in Kalkar, the roman town of Xanten, to the nearby Netherlands, a place of pilgrimage Kevelaer or to Europe's biggest shopping center, Westfield CentrO in Oberhausen.

For cyclists, the Lower Rhine is an excellent place, The cycle network of the Lower Rhine route includes more than 2.000 km.
